"I Am No Magician", Sunday Oliseh; Explains Why Eagles Are Yet To Fly

Head coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, has explained why his team cannot get the desired results which Nigerians seek early into his career as the team's coach.

This is coming after criticisms from different quarters as the team could only manage a goalless draw against Tanzania in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match last weekend.

Vanguard reports that the Nigerian coach, who expressed his delight at the unity in the Super Eagles' camp, noted also that he is no magician and that Nigerians should not expect him to perform magic in only his first game with the team.

Speaking during a press conference at Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt ahead of today's friendly match against Niger, Oliseh said: "I have said it over and over that I am no magician. We have to come to accept the hard fact that we are not right there at the top, at the moment.

"No doubt, we have potential, and based on the unity I have seen amongst the players, and the willingness to work hard and accomplish, we will get back to the top in good time.

"We are building a new team, and patience is required. It is like starting from the scratch, because the fact is that we didn't qualify for the last Africa Cup of Nations.

"However, I have the confidence that this group will make Nigeria proud again."

The match is expected to kick off by 4:00pm today at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
